Nando's

I don't know who Nando is, I dont think it's Fernando Torres, but he makes a well nice chicken and chips.


Nando's is one of the best chains I know of for being able to go in and not stress about whether or not the food I am going to order is gluten free. Admittedly that is because I always order the same thing (half chicken and chips). But also whenever I have asked there the chips are cooked in a dedicated fryer so I don't need to worry about contamination from onion rings or battered Mars bars or anything. Also their peri-peri chicken is really tasty. I love it.

Dandelion Cafe, Freshwater, IOW

Not only is there the amazing view of Freshwater Bay, they also serve gluten free cakes!

I've been a couple of times and asked for gluten free cakes and they've brought me a plate with 3 different GF cakes on it! Brownies, mince pies, some kind of granola bar thing. All very nice. They even wopped some blackcurrants on there once (my Grandma ate them).

The Orchid Cantonese Restaurant, Nottingham

I recently discovered this coeliac friendly Chinese restaurant and have annoyed my family by insisting we get their take-away every time I am in Nottingham. The guy who runs it is really friendly and knows exactly what is and is not gluten free on his menu (most of it is GF).

Also it is evidently a top celebrity hangout judging by the picture they have of Peter Barlow off Coronation Street and John Thomson off The Fast Show and Cold Feet.

Barford Farm Ice Cream, Dorset

If you are on a hot day in Dorset and want to have an ice cream but not in a little cardboard pot or polystyrene cup then go here. They have gluten free cones and a decent choice of GF flavours. They also have a really nice garden where you can enjoy your ice cream in the Dorset countryside.

The Red Lion, Sturminster Marshall, Dorset

I've been here a couple of times and been really impressed by their dedicated gluten free menu. I've had GF garlic bread, a steak sandwich and even a mixed grill (in the picture on the right). Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would ever have a gluten free mixed grill in a pub. Amazing.

Frydays Fish and Chips, Birmingham

This fish and chip shop in Acocks Green, Birmingham serves lovely gluten free fish and chips every Monday night. They offer quite a large gluten free menu including pizzas, chicken meat and of course, fish and chips.

Having just started this blog I could do with some help (and also would just selfishly like to know) with any recommendations for where to get great, trusted, gluten free food.

Rectory Fish Bar, Nottingham

This chippy in West Bridgford, Nottingham does gluten free fish and chips every Monday evening.

They clean out the fryers and replace the oil on a Monday and dedicate one fryer to lovely gluten free fish (made with gluten free batter) and chips all night. It is ran by a coeliac and they even offer gluten free vinegar. Bonus!
